Local businesses came together at Soccer Burnley on Sunday 19th April to battle it out in a football five-a-side frenzy, for a charity match – hosted by Barrowford’s IT and Telecoms specialist, Denwa.
Blood sweat and tears were shed on the pitch during the initial league phase, with teams fighting through the knock out stages to reach the semi-final and then onto the final. NPI Fire and Security came in as this year’s champs of the tournament, beating Ashberry Recruitment in a 6-2 finish… The Denwa boys did quite well too, making it into the quarter final
The event raised over £1,000, which will be presented later this week to Denwa’s very worthy charity – Derian House Children’s Hospice of Chorley. They care tirelessly for children with life-limiting illnesses and offer invaluable emotional and physical support to their families.
The event was a huge success with great support and weather to boot! 13 local businesses took part, and despite the guys (and gal) being hugely competitive, they all had a good laugh along the way.
Daniel Moore, Web Developer from Denwa said: “Another fun packed event which raised a lot of money for Derian House. We thank Soccer Burnley and Crow Wood Leisure for the use of their facilities and for supporting us with this event over the past four years. Also a huge thank you to all our local businesses for their good spirit and contribution, and to all our other donators for helping us help Derian House. We look forward to hosting the event again next year and welcoming even more businesses to take part.”
